Brad currently serves as Senior Advisor for Data Science and Statistics at PharmaLex, a 1200-person international consulting firm headquartered in Germany and having offices in 14 countries. PharmaLex caters to all aspects of pharmaceutical development, from preclinical and regulatory to post-market. The firm is also very active in lots of non-clinical applications, CMC, applied AI, and associated software. Bayesian statistics plays a big role in their work, as does machine learning, AI, and a variety of traditional and more recent data science techniques. Brad is also Founder and President of Counterpoint Statistical Consulting, a Minneapolis-based consulting firm that specializes in using data and modeling to find solutions to challenging problems in biomedicine. He previously served as the Head of the Division of Biostatistics at the University of Minnesota.
As the Head of the Division of Biostatistics at the University of Minnesota, Brad taught a variety of both traditional academic courses and government, industry, and professional short courses in hierarchical Bayesian modeling and its implementation via the R and BUGS packages, with special emphasis on Bayesian adaptive clinical trials, including simulation of procedure operating characteristics. Brad has coauthored three leading textbooks on Bayesian methods, including one on adaptive methods for clinical trials.
In his spare time, Brad is also a musician, music therapy student, and keyboardist/leader of Homeward Bound, the “house band” for Good Samaritan United Methodist Church in Edina, MN. He also plays trombone and sings in a variety of community music settings around the Twin Cities.
